JAMMU, Sept 16: Demanding declaration of September 23 as Gazetted holiday on account of Maharaja Hari Singh’s birth anniversary and constitution of State Rajput Welfare Board in J&K, Yuva Rajput Sabha (YRS) held a demonstration at Marh, here today.
The demonstration was held under the leadership of YRS president Rajveer Singh, who justified the demand by stating that Maharaja Hari Singh was the person who actually gave a new path to the social development of the State by finishing untouchability, enhanced girl child education and many other things for the betterment of the State.
“It is ironic that birthday of the persons, who did nothing for the State, are being observed as Gazetted holiday but no holiday is being declared on the birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh,” he said.
Rajveer Singh also demanded a State Rajput Welfare Board as the community is second largest in population in whole of J&K and majority of the Rajput families are below the poverty line thus suffering a lot for making two time meal.
Both the issues were highlighted and repeatedly presented before the Government but there has been no positive response from the establishment thus leaving us with no option other than to protest vigorously for the fulfillment of our demands,” he said and threatened intensified protests if the Governor’s administration ignore their demands.
