JAMMU, Jan 13: A youth was arrested for allegedly trying to outrage the modesty of a minor girl in Nai Basti area, falling under the jurisdiction of Gandhi Nagar police station.
As per police sources, a youth identified as Abu, son of Rattan Singh Langeh of Nai Basti lured the 3-year-old infant, residing near his house in Nai Basti for Lohri celebrations.
As the girl entered the house, the accused bolted the door from inside and tried to rape the girl, which was noticed by the family members of the victim.
The family members of the minor girl informed the police about the matter.
On getting information, police team from Gandhi Nagar police station headed by SHO Rajinder Sharma rushed to the spot and arrested the accused.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Gandhi Nagar police station and investigation started.
