SRINAGAR, July 29: Former minister and MLA Kangan Mian Altaf today released Gojri short story book written by Prof Mirza Khan Waqar in an impressive function organised by Adbi Sangat Kashmir-an organization working for development of tribal languages, here at main auditorium of Information Department , Polo view , this afternoon .
Chief Editor J&K Cultural Academy Dr Javaid Rahi, Director Radio Kashmir Srinagar Hamayoon Qaisar, noted Gojri writer Ch Qaisar-ud- Din, Ch Salam Din Bajad, president Adbi Sangat, Dr RafeeqMasoodi , former DDG Doordarshan Kendra, Srinagar, Prof M K Waqar were in the presidium.
Mian Altaf in his address said that Gojri is an important language of State having its reach and large speakers in 12 States of India. Besides, it is the fastest growing language, in all the regions of Pakistan and main parts of Afghanistan. He stressed upon Govt to include Gojri language in schools curriculum in 9th and 10th as a compulsory languages of the State.
He appreciated the author of the book Dr Waqar for his outstanding contribution to creative side of Gojri. He impressed upon Gojri writers, researchers, artists and institutions to work in close association of each other to propagate Gojri which is an integral part of our tribal identity.
Ch Salam Din spoke about the activities of the organisation for Gojri language and culture. He demanded that Gojri must be included as major language in AIR and DD.
Qaisar congratulated Adbi Sangat Kashmir and Prof Waqar for contributing a book in Gojri which will add to fiction of Gojri language in a big way.
Dr Rafeeq Masoodi stated that Gojri poetry is full of mysticism and it speaks about oneness of mankind.
Rafaqat Gazi, Manshah Khaki, Jahanger Asghar, Hamayoon Qaisar and Rafaqat Ghazi also spoke on the occasion.
