UDHAMPUR, Apr 15: Senior Congress leader and vice president Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Janak Raj Gupta today appealed electorates to vote for Ghulam Nabi Azad to ensure win of progressive forces over communal elements.
Addressing meetings at Jakhani and Dhar Road in district Udhampur, Gupta said that people across country, especially in J&K uphold the high principles of pluralistic ethos, communal harmony and brotherhood.
“The people want UPA leadership to lead the country strengthening these principles and taking the country towards new heights of peace, development and modernization”, he said adding that the days were gone when people could be astrayed in the name of religion, creed, caste and region.
To garner support for Azad, Gupta said that the people in the State and the country were emancipated enough to understand the designs of certain politicians aimed at dividing the society on various grounds including region, religion and caste for vote bank politics and vested interests of grabbing power.
He further said that some parties including BJP were thriving on the politics of ‘divide and rule’ and wanted to wedge apart various sections of the society for party politics and vote bank gains.
Gupta cautioned the people against that tactics and impressed upon them to vehemently reject the hate politics and nurture mutual brotherhood, amity and togetherness for which Congress party has always been torch bearers.
He appealed electorates to vote for Ghulam Nabi Azad on April 17 Parliamentary polls.
