VLW nabbed with Rs 10,000 graft, RDD JE slips away

RAJOURI, Sept 26: Vigil-ance Organization sleuths today nabbed a Village Level Worker (VLW) of the RDD in Thannamandi area along with Rs 10,000 graft money while a JE of the same department, managed to slip away during raid today.
Official sources told the Excelsior that action was taken by the State Vigilance Organisation after a written complaint was lodged by a local villager, Irfan Mirza, son of Jahangir Mirza from village Bathian in Thannamandi tehsil of district Rajouri.  Irfan alleged that after performing work on water tank under MLC Constituency Development Fund  at the village, falling under Plangarh block, he demanded release of his payment worth Rs 2.50 lakhs but JE (REW) Ahmed Khan   and  Incharge VLW Mohd Farooq of this block demanded Rs 60,000 as commission.
The complainant further revealed that he had already paid them Rs 10,000  but now they were demanding Rs 50,000 more before clearance of the amount. Upon this, Irfan moved to Vigilance Office Jammu an filed a formal complaint in this connection. The SP Vigilance Amit Gupta (R-P) deputed DySP Girdhari Lal and the team organised a trap and nabbed  the VLW Mohd Farooq along with Rs 10,000 graft money red handed in presence of independent witnesses. The JE, Ahmed Khan,  however, managed to slip away from the office immediately.
The accused RDD official was brought to Jammu from Rajouri by the Vigilance team. A case FIR No 37/ 2017, at Police Station Vigilance Organisation Jammu has been registered under Section 5(1) (d) red/ with 5(2) J&K PC Act Samvat 2006 and Sec 4-A of the amended PC Act against the above mentioned  accused public servants. The accused has been arrested and further investigations are going on into the case.
