Villagers protest for road connectivity

UDHAMPUR, Nov 30: Demanding road connectivity, a protest rally was organized by inhabitants of several villages under Basantgarh, Mang and Loudhra Panchayat, here today in front of SDM office Basantgarh.
The protest was organized under the banner of Joint Action Committee of All Parties Basantgarh and a number of inhabitants from the villages, including Mang, Sangh, Khned, Poni, Karcha, Loudhra, Ponrara and Jakhad, participated in the rally.
The protesting villagers were raising slogans against the State Government and PMGSY for allegedly delaying the construction of roads from Basantgarh to Khaned to Khadwa and Ponrara to Loudhra.
The protest demonstration was addressed by Haji Mohd Abass Master Umer Din, Abdul Rasheed Wani, Sarpanch Loudhra Shoket Ali Lohar and others. They condemned the insensitive attitude of PMGSY and Government agencies, which are delaying the construction of the said three roads for the last ten years. The leaders announced that if the work is not started within three days, all the villagers along with their families will sit on the road and block the traffic at Basantgarh.
They protesters informed that population of these eight villages of the three Panchayats is about 12000 and they have to walk 6 to 18 km on foot to reach the road.
They announced to continue the protests until the demand is fulfilled.
