Villagers protest for road connectivity

UDHAMPUR, Dec 6: Demanding construction of road from Basantgarh to Khaned, locals of these areas held a strong protest demonstration in front of Deputy Commissioner’s office, here today.
The demonstration was organized under the banner of Joint Action Committee and the protesting villagers raised slogans against the PMGSY Department as well as the district administration.
The protesters said that hundreds of people from the eight villages; Mang, Sangh, Khned, Poni, Karcha, Loudhra, Ponrara and Jakhad under three Panchyats Basantgarh, Mang and Loudhra are without road connectivity.
Construction of road from Basantgarh to Khaned to Khadwa and Ponrara to Loudhra was announced but there has been no action on the ground.
People of these villages are forced to walk 6 to 18 km on foot to reach the nearby road for reaching further destination. The protesting villagers announced to continue the protest demonstrations till work on the road is started.
The protesting villagers were addressed by Haji Mohd Abass, Master Umer Din, Abdul Rasheed Wani and   Sarpanch Loudhra, Shoket Ali Lohar.
