Villagers protest for completion of work on Tandhar-Pakhlai road

UDHAMPUR, Jan 6: Demanding completion of road construction work, locals of village Satyalta and adjoining areas in Chenani tehsil held a protest demonstration against PMGSY Department and the district administration.
The protest was organized under the banner of Joint Action Committee. The protesting villagers were demanding completion of work on 25 km long Tandhar to Pakhlai road in Udhampur district.
The work on this road was started in 2007 and it had to be completed by 2010. However, even after 10 year, only 16 km earth work has been completed.  Due to incomplete work, electricity poles continue to remain uprooted while water supply pipes are also disconnected since years.
The area is famous for Baba Yug Maharaj temple, which is visited by hundreds of devotees. Besides, there are also some other famous temples and religious places situated in the area.
The area is also important from the tourist point of view but due to no road connectivity, tourists and pilgrims are discouraged to visit here.
According to Gyan Singh, Xen PMGSY, Udhampur, the road work will be completed by August, 2018.
The protest demonstration was attended by Ex Sarpanch Baldev Singh, Radha Krishan, Naib Sarpanch Romal Chand, Panch Romesh Kumar, Shamsher Singh, Gian Chand, Som Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Om Parkash Pandit, Shiv Kumar, Sham Lal, Vikrant Singh, Sham Lal, Balwan Singh and others.
