UDHAMPUR, Jan 24:  Deman-ding enquiry into mass failure of students of three Government Higher Secondary Schools in recently declared Class 12th exam result, residents of Panchari held a protest demonstration.
In the examination result, 221 students, out of 252 total, were declared fail. At Government Higher Secondary Schools Moungri, 74 out of 75 were fail while at GHSS Lander 70 of 74 were declared fail. In GHSS Damnote, 63 fail out of 69 students have been declared fail and at GHSS Panchari, 77 fail out of 103 are failed.
Protesting people of Panchari, Lander and Bhamag areas of Udhampur expressed  serious concern over bleak future of their children, undergoing studies at Government schools because of non -availability of required teaching staff, absenteeism and dereliction of duty on the part of posted staff and above all lack of inspection and  accountability of the teaching staff.
They further said that result of 12th class annual exam of winter zone speaks volumes of the travesty of the functioning of Government schools in far flung areas where there is no accountability vis-a -vis assigned tasks, even in the case of highly important duties of teachers who are regarded as nation builders.
“As there are no private schools in these areas, we are left with no other option but to solely depend upon Government schools for the education of our children.  But, we are disgusted, disappointed and dismayed at the poor performance of these schools and therefore, demand stern action against those responsible for mass failure of students,” said the villagers.
