JAMMU, Nov 1: Vishaw Hindu Parishad (VHP) today took the Mehbooba Mufti led Government to task for withdrawing the cases against the stone pelters in Kashmir Valley and warned that this decision will also fail like the previous one taken by Omar Abdullah led Government in 2010.
Talking to reporters here, today along with Suresh Ji and other senior VHP leaders, Leela Karan Sharma, State VHP chief strongly condemned the Chief Minister’s decision in this regard.
He said Mehbooba is just trying to appease the stone pelters and separatists in Valley as she understands that she is losing the ground but this appeasement will not work.
Leela Karan said withdrawal of cases against the stone pelters speaks volumes about the discriminatory policies of the present Government which failed to withdraw the cases of Jammu youth who took part in the Amarnath land row agitation.
He said he is still contesting the case of one such youth in Session’s Court, Jammu at present while the cases of other youth also still exist as they have not been withdrawn.
He said these youth have to face problems while seeking their character certificate, or apply for Pass port or higher education etc as FIRs still stand lodged in their names in various police stations.
Leela Karan said the politicians of Kashmir feel pained for the people of Valley but turn an blind eye towards the Jammu’s pain and asked that why FIRs were not withdrawn against Jammu youth. “If they have withdrawn cases against stone pelters of Valley why they are not withdrawing cases against Jammu youth”, he asked?
He demanded that these cases be also withdrawn immediately.
Leela Karan said in 2010 same decision was taken by then Chief Minster, Omar Abdullah
Government and it announced Rs 5 lakh each for the rehabilitation of stone pelters besides also withdrew their all cases. But the stone pelting did not stop later and it still continued and took the worst form.
Leela Karan also expressed grave concern over the recent violence and attack on Sarpanch in village Banyari in Rajbagh area of Kathua district and held SSP Kathua responsible for the same who he said was acting in a partisan way.
The VHP chief said that there was already tension in the area and the people had met the concerned authorities on November 3 and apprised them that the cow shed (Gowshalla) land is being encroached. Had the authorities well in time taken the action, the situation would have not taken the critical turn and the Sarpanch would have not been attacked and injured seriously.
He demanded stern action against the culprits and immediate restoration of the land illegally occupied by land mafia in the village.
