VHP, ABVP, BD, others demand Hurriyat leader’s arrest

JAMMU, Jan 30: Vishav Hindu Parishad (VHP), Bajrang Dal (BD), Akhil Bhartiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Sanatan Dharma Sabha and various other organizations held strong protest demonstration at Poonch and Jammu against Hurriyat leader Sayeed Ali Shah Geelani and demanded his immediate arrest for his highly objectionable and anti-national comments, describing terrorists involved in the attack on Army and killing of  Martyr- Col M N Rai as heroes.
In Poonch city VHP, Bajrang Dal, SD Sabha and members of various NGOs, Beopar Mandal and prominent citizens took out massive protest march from Pritam Park. They raised loud slogans against Geelani and demanded that he should placed behind the bars. They condemned the remarks of Geelani and described him as `traitor’. They were shouting slogans, `Desh Ke Gaddaron Ko, Goli Maro Salon Ko’.  After passing through various markets and localities they reached city chowk.
Several prominent leaders including Sourav Sudan, Nishu Gupta, Advocate Chaman Lal, Sanjay Raina advocate, L C Shastri and others addressed the gathering and urged upon the Union Home Minister to take serious note of the matter and take legal action against Geelani. They said that such people  deserve no mercy. They described Geelani as agent of Pakistan and said that he should be arrested immediately.
Later,  at  City Chowk they burnt the effigy of Geelani and also sought action against Dar and Engineer Rashid for their anti-national remarks.
Another protest demonstration was held at Jammu University by the activist of ABVP under the leadership of Sandeep Sharma. The students burnt the effigy of Geelani and demanded his immediate arrest. They appealed the Union Home Minister to take immediate action against Geelani. The student leaders condemned the remarks of  Geelani against Indian Army and specially Col Rai and Police Head Constable  who sacrificed their lives for the country. They warned Geelani to desist from such anti-national and provocative remarks  otherwise, the ABVP will be forced for direct action against such people.  They said if Geelani has so love for Pakistan it is better for him to leave the State for ever and settle there.
Meanwhile, J&K High Court Bar Association in an emergent meeting held at High Court Complex, Janipur Jammu under the chairmanship its president, M K Bhardwaj, strongly condemned the statement of Hurriyat leader Sayed Ali Shah Geelani, who made highly inflammatory remarks against an Army officer  and Police Head Constable. Both laid down their lives while fighting with terrorists in Pulwama.
Mr Bhardwaj said that Armed forces  and Police men are daily sacrificing their lives in service of the nation. The Association, appreciates and salutes the Army, Para-military and Police forces for working tirelessly to maintain peace and uphold integrity of our country, specially Col Rai and Head Constable Sanjeevan Singh, who have sacrificed their lives for the Nation.
