Vice Chancellor of Jammu University, Prof. M.P. Ishar has been directed by the Chancellor and Governor to implement the recommendations of the Chief-Secretary-led committee probing into the financial, administrative and other irregularities happened during the tenure of Prof. Amitab Mattoo, the former VC of Jammu University. The Committee constituted by the government to make investigative report on various complaints brought to the authorities against the former VC, submitted its findings to the Governor, who in turn, has sent it to the VC for implementation. In the first place it is in fitness of things that the enquiry has been conducted and the implementation of its recommendations will be made without loss of time. Secondly, since the Chancellor has left the implementation part to the Vice Chancellor, it reflects that the Governor has considerable trust in the honesty and uprightness of the present Vice Chancellor. In a short statement to the press the VC said that he would be fair and impartial in bringing things to logical conclusion. Jammu University has been desperately looking for an honest, sincere and dedicated Vice Chancellor. Many hopes are associated with Prof. Ishar who is now at the helm of university’s affairs. He has not only to clean the deck but also give right direction to the university so that it becomes a real prestigious institution of higher learning in the country.
