Various organizations protest, condemn killing of Army officer Umar Fayaz

JAMMU, May 11: Pradesh Congress  and various others organizations held protests against the kidnapping and killings of Army officer from South Kashmir Lt Umar Fayaz and also condemned the incident.
Leader of  Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad has expressed his heartfelt grief and sorrow on the killing of young Kashmiri office, Lt Umar Fayaz.
” Killing a brave young officer is a cowardly act. It was painful to learn about this tragic incident. I pray for his eternal peace and also pray for the bereaved family to bear this loss,” Azad said.
Rich tributes were paid to Lt. Umar Fayaz, a young Army officer by the District  Congress Committee (Urban) Jammu in a meeting held today. It was  presided over  by  Anil Chopra-DCC Jammu-U, president. A two- minute silence was observed in respect of departed soul and all the speakers condemned this distortedly act, also in a unanimous voice all came down heavily on the security scenario and policies of the Centre Govt towards the militancy related unrest in Kashmir Valley.
While addressing party workers Chopra appealed to the  youth  of  the Kashmir that they should seriously think on that the Pakistan and Separatist leaders who are using youth  for their own interest and disturbing the Kashmir valley. He said there are instances of bank looting and burning of schools. He urged upon the  Central Govt to put J&K under Governor rule and dismiss the unholy Govt.
BB Gupta, Dr Rama Kant Khajuria, Ram Prakash Magotra, PS Chouhan, Gourav Chopra, Vijay Singh Chib, Naresh Maini,  Chanchal Popli, Sushil Sharma, Vinay Sharma, ML Malagar, Pawan  Sharma,  Bodh Raj, Prashotam Mehra and others also attended the meeting.
Shiv Sena and Dogra Front also condemned the killing of  young Army officer from Valley and termed this act of terrorists as eye opener for the youth of Kashmir.  These organisations appealed to the youth from the State to wage a struggle against the Pakistan aided mercenaries, committing blood shed in Kashmir for their vested interests.
Ashok Gupta condemned the killing of Lieutenant Ummer Fayaz, the young Army officer from Kulgam. He said it is a “big tragedy” that the people who are crying over the Kashmir issue are killing Kashmiris especially our youth who come from ordinary background and wanted to succeed in life like the martyr Fayaz.
He said Fayaz had become an officer in the Army at such a young age of 22 and was brutally killed within few seconds by Pakistani terrorists. Several police personnel and bank officials have also been killed by them on earlier occasions.  Gupta  stated that the emotions of people are running very high after such  barbaric acts, that the Government should try and act quickly to bring down the emotions of the people.
Condemning the killing of Army officer Lt Umar Fayaz, PDP Zonal president, Jammu West Puneet Singh Jamwal today said that violence is no answer to any issue and said that late Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s doctrine of peace and development was only way out of this impasse.
In his statement issued here,  Jamwal  appealed youth of J&K State to put in use educational qualifications to achieve their dreams especially when both State and Central Governments were building massive infrastructures and setting up prestigious institutions in the State.
The PDP leader urged  Sports Department, State Sports Council, heads of Technical institutions, cultural academy, institute of fine arts and other educational institutions to gear up their activities and involve students/ youth  in various activities as per their annual calendar so that energy of young people is best utilized. He said these departments must not go slow and expedite their activities in far off areas as well.
Veteran leader and former minister Thakur Randhir Singh (State president NCP)  condemned  the  incident of violence on soldiers in the Valley, a bullet-ridden body of brave-heart Lt Ummer Fayaz was found in Shopian district of south Kashmir. Singh said  “In a dastardly act, some unidentified terrorists on Wednesday abducted and then killed a young, unarmed Army  officer, Fayaz who had come on leave to his native place in Kulgam, South Kashmir to attend a marriage in his family.
Singh said the nation salutes the brave-heart and stands by the bereaved family in this hour of tragedy and commits to bring the perpetrators of this heinous act of terror to justice.  Singh further said that the dead body of the young lieutenant of the Rajputana Rifles under Sunderbani Brigade, who joined the Army only five months ago, was found in Shopian, around 30 km from his native village in South Kashmir. NCP leader said  the killing of this officer  again highlights the failure of the J&K Govt in controlling the internal situation in the State.
Krishan Kumar Digra,TK Koul Kilam, Dr Liaquat Ali Magray, Javed F Rehman, Bansi Lal Sodhi, RS Billowaria, Raj Singh Jamwal,  Rishi Koul, Sanjay  Rana, RC Bali,  Sandeep Manhas, Abhimanyu Jamwal and  Amit Datta also attended the meeting.
