Vaishno Devi Shrine Board to slash helicopter fare from Apr 1

JAMMU: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board will slash helicopter fare from April 1, an official here said.

“As part of its continuing endeavours to provide improved services to the pilgrims visiting the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, the Shrine Board has been taking many initiatives,” Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board here said.

He said that consequent to sustained endeavours, the helicopter fare for Katra-Sanjichhat and return, from April 1, 2017 onwards, shall be less than it was in the past three years.

Briefing Governor N N Vohra, who is also the Chairman of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, the CEO stated that after pursuing an entirely transparent bidding process the one-way passenger fare for heli-travel between Katra and Sanjichhat will be Rs 1077 (inclusive of taxes) as against the existing fare of Rs 1170 per passenger (inclusive of taxes).
