JAMMU, Jan 23: Director General of Police, Dr S P Vaid had a surprise visit of Jammu City and adjoining areas last night to assess on the spot police security arrangement ahead of Republic Day celebrations.
Dr Vaid, accompanied by DIG Jammu, Ashkoor Ahmed Wani, visited various areas of Jammu City in civil dress and a private car.
He took stock of the police functioning in these areas and deployment of personnel.
The DGP today disclosed the surprise visit in the senior police officers meeting held at PHQ and discussed the points observed during his visit.
He directed the officers to take immediate steps and rectify the deficiencies observed.
He asked for intelligent policing and dedication besides enhancing arrangements on naka points and night patrolling.
The police chief said that field officers should be made bound to remain present in their areas and supervise the arrangements during night hours also.
