JAMMU, Jan 22: Two persons were killed while two others received serious injuries when a truck hit a car in Akhnoor area of city outskirts.
“The mishap occurred late last night at Bagti near Daskal Morh in Akhnoor area, when a speeding truck, which was on its way from Rajouri to Jammu hit a without number car coming from opposite side,” a police official said.
He said besides three persons travelling in the car, a pedestrian sustained serious injury in the mishap, as he was hit by the car involved in the mishap. All the injured were rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where two of them were declared as brought dead by the doctors.
The deceased were identified as Vikram Sharma (35) son of Kewal Sharma, resident of Dangri (Rajouri) and Gulshan Sharma (30) son of Satpal Sharma, resident of Dassal (Rajouri) while the injured persons were identified as Pawan Sharma (30) son of Manohar Lal, resident of Ward No 13 (Rajouri) and Setti Sharma (27) son of Girdhari Lal, resident of Akhnoor.
The official said after postmortem, bodies of the deceased were today handed over to their legal heirs for last rites while a case in this connection was registered at police station Akhnoor and investigation started.
