Troops celebrate Army Day

UDHAMPUR, Jan 15: The Army Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the Northern Command and all other Military formations across the State today.
The day was also celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm by the Rashtriya Rifles battalions at Talwara, Kalal, Kalakot, Jhangar Gool, Bagga and Samote, under the aegis of Rashtriya Rifles Force Headquarters based at Reasi.
Army Day is celebrated every year on January 15 to mark the taking over of command of Indian Army by Field Marshal, K M Cariappa as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army.
To commemorate the event, a weapons display and recruitment awareness camps were organised for the youths and locals of the Rajouri and Reasi districts. The people were thrilled to have a glance at the different kinds of weapons and military equipment.
In the recruitment awareness camp, various aspects of recruitment procedures for enrollment in Army were conveyed to the youth. The youngsters in the area showed keen interest in joining security forces as a career.
Speaking on the occasion, Randhir Singh of village Gagrote congratulated the Army men on the occasion and appreciated the efforts by the Army towards career awareness of the youth of the region.
The Rashtriya Rifles units and formation headquarters under the aegis of Reasi based Counter Insurgency Force (CIF) Headquarters organised veterans day at Battalion Headquarters for the ex-servicemen in and around their respective area to revere them for their contribution while safe guarding the nation.
The aim of organising the event was to interact with the esteemed veterans of Armed Forces and to inform them about various welfare schemes and pension related issues.
Leaflet containing information on various employment schemes organised by Directorate General Rehabilitation for second career option welfare schemes by Kendriya Sainik Board, pension entitlement, ECHS entitlement and canteen facilities were distributed.
A large number of ex-servicemen from different villages attended the interaction. The veterans expressed their happiness towards the unit for its efforts and requested to organise similar events in future also.
