UDHAMPUR, Feb 16: A traffic cop was crushed today by a truck on Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Udhampur district.
A police official said, ”An on-duty traffic police constable was killed today morning, when a speeding truck bearing registration number JK01AC-3440 hit him on Jammu- Srinagar highway at Thanda Padder near Udhampur”.
He said the constable, identified as Nazir Ahmad (38) son of Abdullah Khan, resident of Siora Morh, Latti, Udhampur, was seriously injured in the accident and rushed to District Hospital, Udhampur, where he succumbed to his injuries.
”In this connection, Udhampur police has registered a case and arrested the driver of the truck, who has been identified as Muzzafar Ahmed Ganai son of Subhan Ganai, resident of Nowpura (Srinagar)”, the official said, adding, the truck had also been seized.
