Tourism holds great potential for employment generation: Dorjay

REASI, Mar 14: Minister for Cooperatives and Ladakh Affairs, Chering Dorjay today said that tourism sector holds prime potential for generating employment avenues for local youth and the Government is keen to develop tourism related infrastructure to attract tourists in the State. Many tourism related projects have already been initiated which will surely give fillip to the tourism related activities in the State.
The Minister was speaking during the public grievances redressal camp at Reasi.
He elaborated on the scope of major tourist sites of the district and said the Government would make all possible efforts to develop necessary infrastructure in the area to facilitate the tourists. He said that Reasi district deserves Tourism Development Authority to give further fillip to the tourism sector in the areas for which he also promised people to take up the matter with Chief Minister.
Dorjey said that there is a regular and all season tourist inflow in the district which is like gift for the people whose survival is based on small business establishments en-route Katra, Reasi, Pouni and Ransoo.
He asked the administration to promote skill development training programmes specifically in hospitality for local youth so that they get ample employment opportunities at their door step. He further emphasized on people to be well versed with the central sponsored schemes to filter their benefits.
Earlier, the Minister conducted extensive tour of several villages from Domel to Pouni and inspected ongoing development works of RDD, Sub Center building at Aghar Jitto, Water Supply Scheme at Dhansar, Foot bridge Lohrnu Bhaga, Roads- Simbal Choa to Dera Baba and Bhabbar to Pai, Tribal Model Village at Talwara.
Besides, he also visited Sihar Baba, Gujjar Bakerwal Hostel Talwara, Anji Sula road, Bhim Fort Reasi, Sports Stadium Reasi, second part of PWD Dak Bunglow Reasi and auditorium including many other sites of development works.
The Minister was accompanied by District Development Commissioner Ravinder Kumar and other concerned senior officers.
For time bound completion and operation of the works, the Minister instructed the officers to work with enthusiasm and zeal so that problems of villagers are redressed to some extent.
At Poni, large number of people from Ransoo, Sangad, Thyeot, Bhambla, Dud, Laiter, Khanyari, Dhanwa, Bharak, Kheral, Pata, Talwara, Malad and others met the Minister and raised their demands and issues of their respective areas including brining improvement in power sector, filling of potholes on Ransoo road, construction of road in Sadeeni areas, new Bus Stand at Pouni besides laying major focus on water shortage, installation of dust bins enroute Pouni-Ransoo.
Responding to the issues, the Minister assured the people for redressal of their demands in a time bound manner. He said that Government will focus on all virgin areas and work with full dedication and enthusiasm focusing numerous parameters of development.
