Ties between nations pre-requisite for progress, global peace: Farooq

Srinagar, May 22: German Ambassador to India Michael Steiner with his wife Eliese Steiner called on National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah at his residence here today and discussed various initiatives that are aimed at enhancing cooperation and understanding between the people of India and Germany.
The German Ambassador highlighted the cooperation between the people of the two countries and underlined the need for continued multi-faceted ties between the two nations and their people. Ambassador Steiner spoke about the enormous Tourism potential of J&K and said this was one of the most beautiful places he had ever visited.
Dr. Farooq Abdullah welcomed the German Ambassador’s reiteration of his affection for the people of the State and spoke about the importance of students of India and Germany studying each other’s languages, cultures and history. Dr. Farooq Abdullah highlighted the areas where the two nations could benefit from each other and said J&K could benefit in a lot of areas of expertise from Germany through knowledge and technology transfers in areas of Tourism, Urban Development and Solid Waste Management.
Dr. Farooq Abdullah presented traditional Kashmiri handicrafts as souvenirs to the visiting dignitaries.
