Thief arrested, stolen gold worth Rs 3 lakh recovered

JAMMU, Nov 4: Akhnoor Police today achieved a big success by apprehending one thief and recovering stolen property worth Rs 3 lakh on his disclosure.
According o a police official, a man identified as Shashi Paul son of Jamit Raj, resident of Ward No-5, Akhnoor, lodged a written complaint on July 24, 2017 that one person namely Vishal Kumar son of Nikunj Kumar, resident of tehsil Chai Putti, district Midnapur (West Bengal), who was working as an artesian (goldsmith) in his shop, stole gold weighing 98 g worth Rs 3 lakh from his shop.
Accordingly, a case FIR No 153/2017 under relevant section of law was registered at police station Akhnoor and during the course of investigation several suspects were rounded up and strenuous efforts were made to recover the gold.
He said today one suspect namely Vishal Kumar son of Nikunj Kumar, resident of tehsil Chai Putti, district Midnapur (West Bengal) revealed his involvement in the said theft case. On his disclosure stolen property i.e gold weighing 98 g valuing Rs 3 lakh was recovered from his possession.
The arrest and recovery was made by SHO police station Akhnoor, Inspector Pushpinder Singh under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor, Munish Anand and SP Rural, Shivdeep Singh Jamwal.
