JAMMU, Dec 9: The Calliope School, Akhnoor celebrated its annual day at Abhinav Theatre, here today.
Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion while Member of Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma was the guest of honour.
The Annual Day function began with lighting the traditional lamp by the chief guest and other dignitaries.
The students presented a variety of programmes ranging from exhibition of dance, song and drama which was highly appreciated by the audience.
Speaking on the occasion, Kavinder Gupta said that teachers and parents play a very important role in shaping a child’s life and their engagement can help children grow into confident, moral and socially aware adults.
He appreciated the efforts of the students, teachers, management, and parents for presenting a colourful programme filled with wonderful performances and inspiring enthusiasm. He made special mention of song ‘Jai Ho’in which Mayank Sharma led troupe presented spectacular performance.
MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, in his address, asked the teachers to give their best to the society as they are the real builders of the nation and said that the role of the teachers and parents is vital in shaping the personality of students.
Vice Chairman, J&K State Sports Council, Jammu and Advisor to the Lakshadweep Government Ranjeet Kalra, Principal APS Akhnoor KCS Mehta, former HoD Education Jammu University Dr SP Suri, Prof Aruna Suri, Principal Kiran Raina besides teaching, non-teaching staff members, parents and students in large numbers were present on the occasion.
The dignitaries also distributed prizes among the students excelling in academic as well as extracurricular activities.
Earlier, Director Calliope group of Institutions Dr SP Suri presented the welcome address while School Chairman Manish Suri by highlighted the achievements of the institution.
