KATHUA, Mar 19: Jammu Kashmir Government Teachers Forum held a meeting, here today under the chairmanship of its State general secretary S Parveen Singh and urged the Education Minister to revoke the controversial order No. 66 Edu of 2017 dated 16-02-2017 regarding written test of distance mode degree holders teachers.
While addressing the meeting, S Parveen Singh said that a delegation led by State chairman JKGTF Amar Nath Thakur met Education Minister and demanded revocation of the controversial order while the Minister assured positive response in this regard.
“If the Government does not revoke the controversial order, then all the cadres of teaching fraternity shall be on streets and do not rest till the order is revoked and 572 Masters are adjusted, whose orders have been withheld by DSE Jammu on the ground that Distance mode degree holder teachers have to pass the written test,” he warned.
Maintaining that this controversial order has questioned the very existence and reputation of universities, the Forum also raised a mark question on the mindset of the Govt behind drawing this type of parameter to assess the degree of same university. “This is the discriminatory attitude of the State Government regarding the degrees obtained through the distance mode of Jammu University,” Forum said and appealed that Government to promote all the teachers to Master grade who are waiting since 2014 for their promotion.
Those who participated in the meeting, included Surjeet Singh Jasrotia (District president ), Davinder Singh (secy) , Sanjay Sehgal, Bharat Bhushan, Tara Mani, Ashok Kumar, Kehar Singh, Bishan Dass and Surinder Kumar.
