Udhampur, Aug 30: A symposium-cum-exhibition titled “North Tech-2013” was organized at headquarters Northern Command here today. The aim of the event was to provide Army units, maintenance agencies and industry an opportunity to exhibit their innovations and technical products at a common platform.
The event showcased creativity and innovations at its best by soldiers using contemporary technology to address various challenges and find pragmatic solutions that could enhance the effectiveness of weapon systems. The event has been conceived to provide a potent
instrument to strengthen Army-Industry Participation to enhance the pace of ongoing modernization of the Army.
As envisaged, the symposium drew overwhelming response from the leading industrial houses wherein vendors across a wide spectrum exhibited a large array of modern equipment, tools and test & diagnostic equipment that would enhance the Army’s operational effectiveness.
North Tech-2013 was inaugurated by Lt Gen Sanjiv Chachra, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Northern Command today. In his inaugural address, the General Officer emphasized on the need for all personnel to have mental mobility, spirit of innovation and out of box thinking in the present era of technology transition so as to effectively combine them with operational concepts for a proportional increase in combat potential and military effectiveness. The Army Commander also lauded the wide participation by the Industry in showcasing valuable products to include diverse technologies which will go a long way in equipping units and enhance operational efficiency.
