CPI(M) asks vested interests to shun disruptive tendencies

JAMMU, Aug 30: Jammu Regional Committee of CPI (M) today asked the vested interests to shun communal and disruptive tendencies and help people to lead a dignified life, based on love, amity and brotherhood which is the true spirit of Jammu Kashmir ‘s pluralistic ethos.
Dividing people on communal lines is barbaric and highly dangerous said Mohammed Yousf Tarigami, State secretary CPI (M) and MLA Kulgam while addressing the convention on communal harmony organized by Jammu Regional Committee of the Party here today.
Cautioning the people against disruptive and communal forces, Tarigami said some of them have not reconciled with the age old traditions, rich cultural, linguistic, religious and geographical diversity of the State and people. They are desperately attempting their worst to vitiate the atmosphere by spreading canards and provoking people by wiping of their communal passions, he added.
He said this trend to divide the people on communal lines if not arrested well in time, can prove dangerous for the State. Fundamentalism and extremism whether Hindu or Muslim in any form and in any variety has proved harmful for the people of the State in the past and as such all those committed to peace and progress of the society must get together and wage a determent and united struggle against such forces, he added.
Sham Prasad Kesar, regional secretary CPI(M), Jammu while addressing the convention said that J&K is a multi -religious, multi-language and multi-cultural where people from all faiths have lived together since century past. He further added that it is of utmost importance for every individual to contribute in whatever way he can to preserve the unity and integrity of the country. The youth have to play a special role in maintaining communal harmony, he added. Sheikh Abdul Rehman, State president Samajwadi Party, Ganshyam Charak of CPI, Tej Ram Dogra of PDF, Prof Zahur-ud-Din, senior advocates, Ashok Vijay Gupta, Mr Shakeel and Z A Qazmi also attended the convention.
