Stolen rifle of JKP cop recovered

POONCH, Sept 4: The stolen automatic AK-47 rifle of the J&K Police Constable from District Police Lines was recovered during search operation launched in Shanker Nagar area of Poonch town late last evening.
Official sources said that the weapon was stolen from DPL Poonch few days ago and was of a police constable posted in DPL Poonch and deployed with the DySP.
Soon after the incident of missing of gun investigation into the matter was started and it was suspected that someone might have kept the weapon hidden in any blind site and in last few days, different teams under the supervision of ASP Poonch Anwar- Ul- Haq conducted searches in suspected locations in and around Poonch town.
Last night, during search by the teams led by DySP DAR Mohan Sharma and DySP Operations Bhishm Dubey, they managed to trace the rifle from a Nallah near Shanker Nagar. SSP Poonch Rajiv Pandey also reached the spot and and weapon was seized. The Police is now investigating the matter as how the said weapon went missing. The constable whose weapon went missing was already placed under suspension.
