SSRB collects Rs 20 cr

SRINAGAR, Aug 29: The increasing unemployment in the State has become a goldmine for the Service Selection Recruitment Board (SSRB) as it has collected nearly Rs 20 crore from the applicants who have applied for different Government jobs.
Chief Minister who is also the Minister In-charge General Administration Department in written reply informed the Legislative Council during the Question Hour to a question by People’s Democratic Party (PDP) legislator Naeem Akhter, that Rs 19, 66, 27,626 has been collected against the OMR forms during the last five years.
The reply said that in year 2010, 19, 7542 OMR forms were received by the Government through Service Selection Recruitment Board (SSRB). Similarly in the year 2011, 162385 OMR forms were received, in 2012, 43275 and in 2013, 613278 forms were received.
The reply said that so far in the year 2014, 8,794 forms were received from the applicants for different jobs by the SSRB.
It said the Board has made selections for 11830 posts against the applications received from 2010 till August 27, 2014.
The reply reveals that the Board has shifted to the written test system and has issued a schedule for the conduct of examination of 5505 posts including different categories out of which the examination of 1785 posts has been conducted on August 3, 23 this year.
“Further the board has also conducted the Type test/stenography test/ driving test and interview of 863 posts of junior assistants,” the reply said.
The reply, however, said that the posts of 5560 teachers belonging to, district Jammu, Udhampur, Samba, Doda, Rajouri, Kathua, Baramulla, Kupwara and Pulwama and 870 posts of Accounts Assistant Posts have been halted due to court intervention.
Regarding the number of persons employed as need basis after May16, the Government said that so far the Government has engaged 3,051 persons in different departments on need basis. “Some of the persons have been engaged for 20 days only in view of the functional requirement,” he said.
