JAMMU, June 10: The SR College of Competitions (SRCC) today held a specially designed workshop to prepare and guide JKPSC (KAS) aspirants in the light of new pattern of the examination which has become very similar to that of IAS.
The three-hour long workshop taken by a J&K Cadre IAS officer attempted different aspects involved in preparing for the most competitive examination with special focus on generating awareness. Students were also guided regarding prescribed books, reading of newspapers and proper ways to study the available material.
“The workshop mainly focused on General Studies and it was really worth listening to the resource person. It was my first guidance session of such kind and I am a motivated lot. It really helped me in making choice what to read, how much to read and what amount of time you have to spend on studying a particular thing,” explained Shahnaz Begum of Kathua.
Similar were the views of other students, who were part of the workshop. Sharing his experience, Atul Sharma said, “Right from reading newspapers to the prescribed books, the resource person told us how to go through the vast study material in limited time. The most important part of the workshop was motivation. We were told not to get de-motivated and remain charged all the time.”
In the meantime, the management of SRCC has planned to hold more such workshops in near future. “To equip the students about changed syllabi of  KAS, we have planned similar workshops for future also, touching General Studies as well as Optional. We are trying to engage some selected KAS or IAS officers from J&K and Delhi for upcoming workshops,” informed Director SRCC, Parveen Sharma.
