Speaker takes stock of public grievances

JAMMU, Jan 7: Speaker Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today conducted a whirlwind tour of Gandhi Nagar constituency to listen public grievances, problems and other developmental issues.
During his tour to Ward No 53 Khoo Wali Gali and Trikuta Nagar, the locals apprised the Speaker about the problems being faced by them regarding dilapidated condition of lanes and drains in the area. They demanded repair of lanes, drains and black topping of roads, link roads and installation of new street lights, removal of garbage from the nullah passing through the locality. The Speaker gave them patient hearing and assured that these demands would be solved in a phased manner.
He said that the present Government has started various initiatives for development and prosperity of the State. He said numerous welfare schemes have been launched in the State with the aim to improve the living standard of the people especially weaker sections of the society. He said number of welfare schemes have been introduced for the upliftment of women folk.
Referring to the developmental works under execution in Gandhi Nagar constituency, the Speaker said that the construction work on various developmental projects are apace and on completion of these schemes the people of the area will see change on ground in near future. He said the directions have already been given to the concerned executing agencies for timely completion of all ongoing projects.
Kavinder Gupta said to mitigate the water scarcity in Bathindi and Batalla areas a project costing Rs 18 crore each has been sanctioned. He further said that Rs 340 crore project has also been sanctioned for construction of over bridge at Kunjwani, Greater Kailash and Sainik Colony Marh. He said that Rs 127 crore project for flyover bridge at Satwari Chowk was also approved and the construction work on the project will be started soon.
