Solid Waste Management Centre at Khaltsi made functional

LEH, Aug 6: After the successful functioning of Choglamsar, Diskit and Nimoo Solid Waste Management Centers under `Project Tsang -Da’, one more Solid Waste Management Center at Khaltsi was made functional today in presence of Deputy Commissioner Leh, Avny Lavasa.
On the occasion, DC, Leh, ACD, Leh and SDM Khaltsi distributed dustbins among the households, hoteliers and shopkeepers of Khaltse village. ACD, Leh Tsering Paldan informed DC, Leh that initially a fee of Rs 50/   from the households and Rs 200/- from the shopkeepers will be charged monthly to run the Solid Waste Management Center at Khaltsi and as per need and requirement these centre will be extended.
The Deputy Commissioner Leh Avny Lavasa appealed people of Khaltse to extend their fullest support and participation in making Khaltse Waste Centre successful in every respect and talked about the achievements of such centers at Choglamsar, Diskit and Nimoo which collected about 40,000 Kg garbage in the district so for which otherwise could be on the open space of the district. Keeping Khaltse neat and clean is in the best interest of Khaltse people as Khaltse is along the national highway and on the route of tourists, added DC, Leh.
Other present on the occasion, included SDM Khaltsi, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, DPO, Leh Zakir Hussain, BDO, Khaltsi Tsering Angcuk, Councilor Skurbuchan Phuntsog Stanzin, Councilor Khaltsi Lobzang Sherap, HODs of Khaltsi Sub Division, Numbarders, members of Ama Tsogspa and general public.
