JAMMU, June 7: BJP MLAs today showed grave concern over diversion of maximum resources towards Kashmir and neglecting Jammu region in all spheres of development and in providing basic amenities of life to people by National Conference (NC) Government.
The party MLAs during a meeting here today to review the prevailing political situation, development concerns and public issues of the people of Jammu region, expressed grave resentment over what they termed continued discriminatory approach of NC Government towards this region and warned if present dispensation will not mend its ways, BJP will be constrained to launch a forceful agitation for safeguarding rights of the people of the region.
The meeting was chaired by Party UT president and MP, Rajya Sabha Sat Sharma while it was also addressed by party general secretary ( Org), Ashok Koul, national secretary and MLA , Dr Narinder Singh and Deputy leader of Opposition, Pawan Gupta.
As per party sources, all MLAs present in the meeting unanimously observed that condition of roads is worst and no attention is being paid for their renovation, with the result people are facing many hardships. The power and water supply are also dismal and no steps are being taken to improve the same despite the fact that people pay power tariff in advance, sources added.

They said the MLAs alleged in the meeting that the issues being taken up by them with concerned ministers are being ignored and a discriminatory treatment is meted out to this region continuously which will not be tolerated by them being the public representatives as people have many expectations from them.
Sources said, the BJP Legislators were all unanimous that they will not tolerate sufferings of the people anymore and urged the party leadership to take a tough stance against this discriminatory attitude of NC Government towards the Jammu region.
Dr. Narinder Singh, national secretary of the party and MLA stated that the BJP has always stood for equitable development and transparent governance. He said that there should be no bias in the implementation of development projects and welfare schemes. He added that the Government must ensure fair treatment to Jammu and avoid any policy decisions that create a sense of discrimination.
Deputy Leader of Opposition, Pawan Gupta said that BJP MLAs are consistently raising public issues, but the Government has failed to deliver on many fronts. He said that growing public dissatisfaction over neglected civic infrastructure, delayed development works, and administrative inefficiency reflects the Government’s inability to address the genuine concerns of the people.
BJP president and MP Rajya Sabha, Sat Sharma while appreciating the concern of the party legislators asserted that any attempt to discriminate against the Jammu region in matters of development, resource allocation, or governance will be strongly opposed. He said that the aspirations and rights of the people of Jammu cannot be compromised under any circumstances. He emphasized that BJP Legislators will continue to act as the strong voice of the people both inside and outside the Assembly and will vigorously raise every issue concerning public welfare.
Sat Sharma, said that BJP remains fully committed to safeguarding the interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and ensuring balanced development across all regions. He stated that the people of Jammu are increasingly feeling ignored under the present dispensation, while several critical issues concerning infrastructure, civic amenities, roads, power supply, water availability, healthcare, and employment continue to remain unresolved.
During the meeting, BJP legislators discussed various issues affecting the people at the grassroots level and expressed concern over the continued neglect of public grievances by the National Conference Government. The MLAs also highlighted constituency-specific problems and developmental requirements, emphasizing the urgent need for timely intervention by the administration.
Party general secretary (Org) Ashok Koul deliberated on the series of organizational programmes from June 5 to June 21 under the nationwide campaign commemorating 12 Years of Vishwaas, Vikas and Jan Kalyan under the leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. He shared that the programmes include special outreach initiatives, plantation drives, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan activities, Pragati Path Yatra, Viksit Bharat, Sampark Sammelan, Jan Kalyan Shivirs, International Yoga Day, exhibitions showcasing the achievements of the Modi Government, workshops on natural farming, and several other public engagement activities. He asked the BJP legislators to actively spearhead these programmes in their respective constituencies, transforming them into mass outreach campaigns..
The meeting was attended by two dozen BJP MLAs and party general secretaries, Sanjita Dogra, Baldev Singh Billawaria, and Gopal Mahajan.
