SMP seeks reservation in professional colleges for minorities

JAMMU, Oct 19: Social Movement Party (SMP) today demanded reservation in professional colleges, direct recruitments, promotions and backlog quota to SCs, STs and OBCs in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference, Basotra said that present Coalition Government is depriving the aboriginal indigenous Indians viz. SCs, STs, OBCs.
He added that as soon as SMP would come into power in J&K State as well as in Center, SMP will abrogate the present system of reservation in favour of SCs, STs and OBCs completely and will implement a new system of reservation in favour of so called upper castes strictly as per their population percentage. They will get 9 per cent reservation in professional colleges and direct recruitments, promotions with backlog quota and rest 91 per cent of the seats/posts will be thrown open to all the remaining population which is constituted of aboriginal indigenous Indians viz SCs, STs, OBCs and converted minorities.
“SMP will ensure that so called Upper Castes should remain within their ceiling cap of population percentage in all these courts once it comes into power”, Basotra asserted.
Among others present were Dayal Singh, Dheeraj Thapa, Ajit Kumar Vashishath, Dr Jeet Raj Bazala, Ghulam Mohammed Bedar, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Shah, etc.
