JAMMU, Nov 23: Sampooran Kashmir Sangthan (SKS) held a protest demonstration in front of Divisional Commissioner’s Office at 5-Sham Nath Marg Delhi today for non payment of relief and ration to the displaced pandits from Valley for last five months.
The protest was led by chairman of SKS Anoop Koul and the senior leaders of Sangathan including its general secretary, Bharat Kachroo and national spokesman, Rattan Lal Koul also addressed the gathering on the occasion.
They alleged that the Government has not released the relief and ration to displaced people from Valley for last five months without any reason which has generated a lot of resentment among the community.
They said despite assurances by the authorities that monthly relief will be distributed before 10th of every month, the migrants were not paid the relief and ration for last five months now forcing them to take to streets.
Anoop Koul said that SKS has time to time raised the issue and plight of migrants which has been uprooted from Valley in 1989-90 due to the threat of Pan Islamic terrorism and brutal killing of over 1500 members of the community.
He said it is a tragedy that Government of India and State Government has completely ignored the exiled community despite the fact that the community has been patriotic to the core and it never compromised with the forces inimical to unity and integrity of the country.
He said SKS has submitted various memorandums to the GoI on the demands of the community but it has always been hostile towards the community.
The SKS is demanding immediate release of relief, one time financial package against the  losses suffered by the community due to turmoil in last 28 years, , mediclaim for all displaced Pandits under medical insurance scheme and soft loan to traders and over aged youth.
The protesters urged Government to take immediate steps in redressing the demands.
Later, the leaders of SKS tried to meet Divisional Commissioner but he was not present in the office. However the SDM after consulting the Divisional Commissioner assured them payment of relief pending for last five months will be released by November 30 and in future the payment will be made as per Government norms.
