Skill development workshop on ‘Flora of Dogra Region’ concludes

JAMMU, Apr 12: Post Graduate Department of Dogri, University of Jammu today organized 2nd Phase of two day skill development workshop on “Environmental Awareness of Flora of Dogra Region” sponsored by WWF.
Dr. C.M. Seth former Chairman, Pollution Control Board, J&K State and Director, WWF for nature India, Jammu was the resource person. He stressed the need to create environmental awareness among students and reinforce responsible behavior that supports a cleaner living environment, sustainable resources, good public health in the Colleges/Universities and all our surrounding areas. He further said that it is the need of the hour to develop environmental skills of youths by imparting them with basic knowledge and experiences needed to support environmental conservation and sustainable resources.
Earlier, in her  welcome address, Prof. Parmeshwari Sharma, HOD Dogri highlighted the importance and relevance of the workshop.
Dr. Sushma Sharma, Associate Professor presented detailed report of two day workshop, the first phase of which was held at Baba Sidh Goria, Swankha, Samba Distt. on March 30, 2016.
Prof Archana Kesar presented vote of thanks.
Rimjhim Gupta, Narinder Kumar and Radha Rani clinched 1st, 2nd  and 3rd  positions  respectively, whereas Sunil Kumar & Radha Sharma were adjudged for consolation prize. In slogan writing contest,  Shakti Rani, Radha Rani, Mamta Devi secured 1st, 2nd  and 3rd position whereas Ritu Kumar Sharma, Shamsher Lal, Shiv Kumar Khajuria, Narinder Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Poonam Kumari, Radha Sharma & Anuradha were adjudged for consolation prizes. Dr. Sandeep Dubey acted as time keeper and  the proceeding of the workshop was conducted by Dr. Padam Dev Singh. About 50 students and scholars participated in the workshop.
