Six pilgrims injured as mini-bus over turns

RAJOURI, Feb 4: Six pilgrims visiting Shahdara Shrief  Shrine  were injured when a mini-bus over turned on the road, about 2 kms ahead of  Thannamandi town today.
A police spokesman said that mishap took place at around 11.40 am when two mini-buses  and a Canter vehicle were in race and moving towards Shahdara Shrief. Each vehicle was trying to reach first at Shahdara Sharief.
The Mini-bus No. JK-11/ 1397 went out of control  at a curve and  over turned on the road. Six pilgrims, mostly women were injured  in the mishap. The driver,  Mohd Jahangir despite injuries  escaped from the spot sensing thrashing  by the passengers as he was driving negligently and passengers had already  objected when he was racing.
All the injured passengers were removed to Thannamandi hospital by police party which rushed to the spot after mishap. The injured were identified as Rubina Rashid (22), daughter of Mohd Fazal, resident of  Saranu; Abida Kouser (30) and his 7 year-old son, Abdul Jawar; both wife and son of one Abdul Karim, residents of Sankari village in Palma area; Salma Kouser (18), daughter of  Mohd Qayoom, resident of  Rajouri; Abdul Rafiq, son of Nohd Alam (bus conductor), hailing from Badakanna and Mohd Jahagir.
The police registered a case and started manhunt for the absconding  mini-bus bus driver.
