KISHTWAR, Feb 13: A Sub Inspector and two other cops were booked today after massive protest by the people against the death of a youth in Brindaban area, about seven kilometers from Kishtwar town.
According to the sources, at about 1.30 pm today the dead body of a youth namely Tousif Nawaz son of Gulam Nawaz, resident of Malipeth (Kishtwar) was spotted by some people in a gorge in Brindaban area. The locals informed the police which shifted the body to District Hospital (DH) for post mortem.
Meanwhile, two injured youth namely Shakeel Ahmed son of Abdul Latif, resident of Bhagwaa and Arshad Hussain son of Shah Hussain, resident of Zewer, also reached DH Kishtwar for their treatment.
The injured youth told that they along with some other persons including the youth who was found dead from the gorge, were playing cards in Brindaban area when some police officials raided the area and to avoid arrest by the police they ran from the spot and fell into the gorge due to which they got injured.
On the revelation of the injured youth, angry people assembled in front of the police station Kishtwar and staged a strong protest against the death of the youth, following which a Sub Inspector of police post Kuleed namely Sikander Chouhan and two other cops were booked under Section 304 RPC, after which the protesting people dispersed.
