JAMMU, Sept 16: Desh Bhagat Yadgaar Committee and Small Shopkeepers Association Old Hospital Road today held a protest demonstration in support of the small shop keepers of JDA /Supper Bazar Complex where mechanized multi-storey car parking complex has been constructed by the ERA.
While addressing the gathering, Comrade Sukhdev Singh said that ERA was adamant to erect the 6 feet (height) chain link fencing with 2 feet (Height) glass which will hit the business of the small shopkeepers of both side of the parking road. He said that these shopkeepers have been running their business for the last 25 years in the heart of city and had apprised the Chief Minister about their grievance during inauguration of the parking site. “Divisional Commissioner, Jammu also assured us that he would personnel visit the area and a decision would be taken after detailed deliberation and consultation with the construction agency but there was no change in the attitude of ERA,” he added.
The protesters claimed that even the temple was also fenced from all sides thus making it very difficult for the devotees to perform darshan. They further said the mechanized parking was not constructed to meet the day to day demand of the parking while on the other hand, the agency did not consult the authorities of parking sites at Sri Darbar Sahib Amritsar for developing better parking site here.
The protesting people appealed all the Trade Unions, social organizations, political parties, RTI activists to support the cause and pressurize the agency for the same for not erecting the said fencing.
Those who addressed the gathering, included Comrade Krishen Koushal, Advocate Jamil Kazmi , H C Jalmaria, Inderpal Singh, Kulvinder Singh, Anil Sharma, Shivnandan, Indermindertar Singh, Comrade Pritam Singh, Jaspal Singh Mangal, Paras Ram Poonchi, Comrade Subash Mehta, Rajinder Singh Brigadier and Dapinder Singh.
