JAMMU, Nov 3: Shiv Sena (Bala Ji Sahib Thackery) today held a protest demonstration against unavailability of ration in ration depots of Jammu city and outskirts.
The protest demonstration was led by general secretary of the party, Manish Sahni. While addressing the protest demonstration, Manish Sahni said that in the whole Jammu province there is a huge scarcity of ration. He alleged that ration dealers had been selling food grain in the black market and CAPD Department is doing nothing to check the same.
He said that despite several complaints to officials of the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Department, ration card holders had been facing problems due to corruption at various levels.
Pointing out that no step had been taken to address grievances of the people, he urged the Government to investigate reasons why the people in Jammu is not getting food grain on a regular basis.
“Dealers with the help of the tehsil supplies officer are depriving the people of food grain while it is being sold in the open market. We demand a high-level probe into the issue”, he said and appealed the State Government to take immediate steps so that the people do not suffer.
Working president, Ashwani Gupta said that although Jammu and Kashmir began ration supply as per Nation Food Security Act norms, yet thousands of consumers had been going through agonizing times as the new ration cards issued by the CAPD Department were full of inaccuracies.
“There are errors like repetition of names, incorrect income details, entry of lower income group members in executive group and classification of children as adults”, he added.
State spokesperson, Rakesh Kak, senior vice president, Rajeev Bhandari, vice presidents, Rajan Gupta and Nathpal Chowdhary, Surinder Mahajan, Sanjeev Kumar, Pawan Singh and many others were part of the protest.
