Sharma takes over as JU VC

JAMMU, Oct 30: Prof R D Sharma today took over as In-charge Vice-Chancellor of Jammu University as Governor N N Vohra accepted the resignation of Prof M P S Ishar with immediate effect.
A formal order for the appointment of Prof R D Sharma, who is senior most faculty member in Jammu University, was received from the Governor House late this afternoon soon after Prof Mohan Pal Singh Ishar relinquished the charge as Vice-Chancellor.
“Prof R D Sharma shall carry out the duties of Vice-Chancellor of Jammu University till the new Vice-Chancellor is appointed,” said an official communiqué, issued by the Governor House.
As already reported by the Excelsior in its yesterday edition, Prof Ishar had submitted his resignation on October 28, three months ahead of completion of his tenure as Vice-Chancellor of Jammu University.
Ramji Dass (R D) Sharma, who is the Professor in Department of Commerce in Jammu University, had recently joined back his parent organization after completing a successful tenure of two years as Chairman of Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE). Earlier, he had also served on various administrative and academic positions in JU, such as Dean Academic Affairs, Rector Kathua Campus, Controller of Examinations, Dean Faculty of Business Studies, Dean Faculty of Commerce, HoD Commerce, Dean Students Welfare, Director Physical Education, Coordinator SAP, etc.
He was visiting Fulbright Professor of Business Administration, URI, Kingston (USA). He has to his credit 12 books and 116 papers. His research work has figured in leading refereed journals of national and international repute. He has guided 26 M. Phil and 24 Ph D students. He has completed seven research projects and visited many countries. He is the member of University Syndicate and has also been a member of University Council.
