JAMMU, Jan 17: PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Minister Sham Choudhary today challenged Independent MLA from Langate that he would resign if the charges leveled by him in the Assembly were proved but said he (the MLA) too should quit if he was unable to prove the allegations.
During Question Hour in the Assembly when Choudhary was replying to a question and supplementaries on the PHE, Rashid made certain remarks against the Minister, which were expunged by Speaker Kavinder Gupta.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Abdul Rehman Veeri immediately intervened saying the MLA was making wild allegations.
“The MLA should either prove the allegations or face the action. He is a member of the House and can’t level wild allegations in the House,” Veeri said.
Later, Sham Choudhary said the MLA should give proof of the allegations made by him and he would resign. Or else, he said, the MLA should quit.
Engineer Rashid said the Minister should be kept without portfolio.
Several PDP and BJP MLAs supported Sham Choudhary.
