KATHUA, May 29: With an aim to redress the problems of the people living in far-flung areas, Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary today convened a grievance redressal camp at Fish Seed Farm here.
The Sarpanchs and Panchs  from villages Sangwali, Jatwal, Mandera, Mukandpur, Khokhayal, Garniari, Dhaloti and Lakhanpur apprised the Minister with the demands  of the  people   for augmenting water and power supply, replacement of old electric wires and water pipes,  hand pumps, extra transformers and motors during summer season for irrigation purposes.
The residents of Hatli Morh, Krishna Colony and Chak Partap Singh demanded that more tube wells should be provided so that the problem of drinking water can be redressed in these areas. The villagers also asked for taking up protection works on the left bank of river Ujh to prevent soil erosion.
Minister directed the concerned officers to take adequate measures for early redressal of people’s grievances.
Mr Choudhary directed the concerned officers to reach out to the people and make them aware about various State and Centrally Sponsored Schemes so that they can take benefit of these welfare programmes.
The Minister further said that the State Government is committed to provide basic amenities to the people, adding that requisite steps are underway to improve water and power supply and road connectivity.
DDC Kathua Ramesh Kumar, Chief Education Officer, Kathua Balbir Singh, CMO Kathua Dr. Basant Kumar, ACD, Kathua Sunil Sharma, and other officers of the concerned departments were present in the meeting.
