Several political leaders appeal people to maintain peace, brotherhood

JAMMU, Feb 16: Former Union Minister, Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz has appealed the people of the State to maintain peace and calm and not to trust the rumors. The former Minister has urged the Governor’s administration to ensure peace in the State and also appealed the people of State, especially Jammu and Kashmir regions to extend full cooperation to the Governor.
While making the appeal to people of the State to maintain peace and calm, Peoples Democratic Front (PDF), president, Hakeem Mohammed Yaseen urged the Governor’s administration and Central Government to take all steps in restoration of peace in the State and also ensure safety of Kashmiris in Jammu and other parts of the country.
Former Minister and Peoples Conference senior leader, Abdul Gani Vakil has also appealed the people of the State to maintain peace and brotherhood. He also made an appeal to Governor’s administration and Union Government to ensure protection of Kashmiris in Jammu and other parts of country.
NPP chief patron and world peace traveler, Prof Bhim Singh has made an appeal to all the residents of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh to preserve the centuries old cultural values wedded with their history to ensure that man does not bite a man and every human being has right to exist and live with honour and dignity whatever his religion, caste, region or class may be.
A peaceful protest by EJAC leaders was held at Press Enclave Srinagar under the leadership of its acting president Fayaz Ahmed Shabnam. The protest was held against the attacks on Kashmiri people. The protestors asked the Government to ensure security of Kashmiris living in outside the Valley.
G M Shaheen, president, Janata Dal United said the act of bravery in the aftermath of the savage attack on CRPF personnel would be to give a united response to peace call instead of falling into the trap of the perpetrators of this attack of incitement against people of a particular province.
While expressing shock and grief over the incident Shaheen said, “incidents like these do not augur well for peace to return to Valley”. The incident is disturbing and reminiscent of the nineties. My prayers are with those who are injured and condolences with the bereaved families”.
Jagatambe Sharika Sansthan, Subash Nagar held a condolence meeting today to pay tributes to 44 martyrs of CRPF and strongly condemned the Fidayeen attack on CRPF convoy in Pulwama district on Thursday. The president of the Sansthan, M K Jalali has urged the Government to smash the terrorist camps in PoK and withdraw security of separatist leaders.
J&K Coordination Committee of Trade Unions (J&KCCTU) chief Mohammed Maqbool, while, strongly condemning the gruesome act in which 44 CRPF personnel attained martyrdom in Pulwama district of Kashmir Valley on Thursday has expressed his solidarity and sympathy with the bereaved families.
Mohammed Maqbool in a statement issued here, today has also appealed the people of Jammu to ensure peace and communal harmony while expressing their anger against the gruesome act of Fidayeen.
The Kashmiri Pandit Sabha (KPS) has appealed to the leadership of different political parties, social organisations, members of the civil society and intellectuals to use their good offices to ensure that the environment in the State especially in Jammu city does not get further vitiated due to sporadic violence in the aftermath of the highly condemnable brutal attack of our bravehearts in Pulwama.
While the entire country is in mourning and looking up to the Government of India for decisive retaliatory action against the perpetrators and their handlers across the border especially after the entire opposition has given their unanimous backing it is very important for the people of the State to maintain complete communal harmony and brotherhood and not play into the hands of the enemy.
In these trying times when tempers are running high, it is the bounden duty of the entire civil society to close ranks and come out openly to work for restoration of peace and not allow the situation to deteriorate.
Peoples Republican Forum (PRF) president and veteran Trade Unionist, Mir Ghulam Rasool Butwani while appealing the people to maintain peace and calm so that age old brotherhood is not disturbed has also urged the Government to take effective steps in ferrying the stranded passengers to Valley. He said over 5000 pilgrims from various parts of Kashmir who had returned from holy shrine of Ajmer after pilgrimage are stranded in Jammu and immediate steps be initiated to take them to Kashmir Valley. Mir took up the issue with SSP Ganderbal as majority of the pilgrims are from Ganderbal district.
Former Minister and senior National Conference leader Khalid Najib Sohrawardi has strongly condemned Pulwama terror attack and expressed sympathy with the families of the CRPF martyrs. In a statement, he also condemned incidents of violence in Jammu during bandh on Friday and appealed the Governor’s administration to ensure security of the minorities.
Chairman of SOS International, Rajiv Chuni expressed grief over martyrdom of CRPF men in the terror attack and said that government of India needs to revisit its soft policy towards terrorism, which must be crushed with an iron hand. He also conveyed his sympathies with bereaved families of the martyrs.
Expressing grief over martyrdom of CRPF men in Pulwama terror attack, J&K Civil Society, led by Kiran Wattal, has appealed people to maintain peace and brother at this crucial juncture. A delegation of the Society visited Janipur Housing Colony and interacted with the Secretariat employees residing in the Government quarters. The Society assured them of their support in the aftermath of the disturbances that had erupted in the area.
