Scintillating cultural programmes mesmerize people

JAMMU, Apr 15: An impressive cultural programme was presented by the artists of Manipur, Assam, Nagaland and Jammu and Kashmir at Mubarak Mandi.
The Ras Leela by Manipur State drew lot of applause from the audience. The story depicting Radha and Krishna in Ras Leela mesmerize the people which was performed  by  the Manipuri artists in their colourful attire.
The Marshal Art of Manipur was also performed by enthusiastic performers which kept the audience spell bound. The art of defense and attack kept the audience on their feets and there was pin drop silence as the performers gave their scintillating performance.
Similarly, the artists from Assam and Nagaland gave wonderful show of their movement and mesmerized the audience with their folk lore and folk dances.
Earlier, the Director Tourism Jammu Soujanya Sharma highlighted the role of Jammu people and said that it is only because of their support and enthusiasm that the department is encouraged to revive these old melas which used to be integral part of their life once.
He said that reviving old history is to showcase our cultural heritage and aware the next generation of rich colourful past. He appealed the people to be part of the festival everyday so that artists who have come from all over the country are encouraged by their presence.
He informed that April 16, 2014 the renowned singers of Jammu Radhika Chopra and Taniya Gupta will perform at Mubarak Mandi from 7 p.m. onwards.
Among others present were Shiv Kumar Gupta, Joint Director Tourism, Jammu, Kanta Sharma, Deputy Director Tourism, Jammu, Kewal Krishan, Deputy Director Tourism (Publicity) Jammu and prominent citizens of Jammu.
