Samooh Theatre organizes folk music concert

JAMMU, Mar 19: Samooh Theatre today organized a Dogri Kashmiri folk music concert here wherein artists mesmerized the audience through their vocal skills by singing various folk forms of Dogri and Kashmiri music.
Dr Gagan Bhagat, MLA, R S Pura constituency was the chief guest, who while addressing complimented all the artists for their immense talent in their respective languages and appreciated the efforts of Samooh Theatre.
Dr Monica Bhagat was the guest of honor who also sang a very melodious song during the programme.
Rajesh Gupta, former chairman of Spring Bloosom, was the special guest, who while praising the performance of the artists said that music has no boundaries and can play very important role to promote love, peace and brotherhood in nation and between the different countries.
Earlier, Dr Sudhir Mahajan, while welcoming the guests gave the complete details of the activities of Samooh taken previously and to be designed in the future. Dr Mahajan further while giving his views said that Music is not meant for entertainment alone. It has a power to raise the spiritual level of person and plays important role in curing ailments besides Music helps in national integration as it integrates the world too.
The well known artists of the State who gave their scintillating performances included Dr Sudhir Mahajan, Santosh Bandral, Sudesh Manhas, Neha Raina, and Sumita Bhat, while Sh Yash Pal Yash accopained on Harmonium and Suraj Narayan on Tabla.
The proceedings of the programme were ably conducted by Anita Chandpuri, a social activist and Secretary women wing of Samooh Theatre.
The function was attended among others by Dr Rama Sharma a noted Dogri and Hindi scholar, Suriender Goel, Kamal chandpuri, Kamal Chandpuri and Sanjeev Sharma.
