Sadhotra for focused development of rural, sub-urban areas

JAMMU, Feb 15: Minister for Planning, Labour and Employment Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today urged the people to play participatory role in socio- economic reconstruction of the State and benefit from schemes tailored for their welfare.
Addressing public meetings at Gajansoo, Sangrampora and Jhiri in Marh constituency today, the Minister said the Government has set an agenda of ameliorating the lot of people, particularly those living in rural and semi urban areas.
The Minister referred to the initiative taken by the Omar led Government for economic emancipation, development and welfare of people of the State and said that major focus is being laid on weaker sections of the society and women also. He said several employment generation programmes have been launched to enable unemployed educated youth establish their own units. Also, efforts have been redoubled for filling up vacancies on fast track basis by the recruitment agencies.
The Minister had exclusive interaction with Panchs and Sarpanchs regarding development of various areas and said that Panchayati Raj Institutions have to play a vital role in rural upliftment. He referred to various initiatives taken by the Coalition Government led by Omar Abdullah with regard to making these effective modes of development.
Mr Sadhotra said the developmental plank of the Government is to ensure equitable development of all the areas and avenues of progress to society as a whole.
The Minister, while responding to issues raised by the public representatives, said these will be taken up with concerned for redressal in a phased manner.
Other demands of the locals included blacktopping of road from Mishriwalla to Jhiri, link roads, regularization of daily wagers of PHE, mini stadium, special drive for recruitment of youth in police, issuance of BPL cards and tehsil status for Marh.
Earlier, the Minister paid obeisance at Baba Jito temple at Jhiri. He also interacted with locals and listened to their problems.
