JAMMU, Feb 15: Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies, Nawang Rigzin Jora today visited Migrant Gole Quarters Colony, Nagrota – the area proposed by Jammu Development Authority (JDA) for offering flatted accommodation and plots.
The project proposal already submitted to the Government envisages construction of 480 flats and development of 240 plots over an area of 200 kanals of land.
The Minister was informed that the place is being developed to meet the increasing demand for housing. He was told that the area owned by JDA, is presently idle after the shifting of majority of the camp inmates to Jagti Township and other tenement colonies constructed for the migrants.
The Minister was further informed that around 15 kanals of land near the colony has been retrieved from the encroachers.
Earlier, Mr. Jora also inspected Interdistrict Nagrota Bus Terminal at Khanpur. He was told that the new terminal has been constructed with all the necessary infrastructure and latest facilities with capacity of parking 151 buses. The bus terminal has also one night shelter, public toilet, besides provision for 37 workshops out of which 28 have already been constructed.
Mr. Jora while expressing satisfaction over the available infrastructure at the bus terminal, said that he will take up the matter of making it functional with the Chief Minister very soon as it would greatly help to ease traffic congestion in the Jammu city.
Earlier, the Minister also visited Kot Jaghir, where he inspected 175 kanal land of Jammu Development Authority. He asked the JDA to demarcate the land to prevent encroachment. He called for stern action against the attempt to encroach upon the land. He also directed Vice Chairperson to keep strict vigil internally and externally.
The Minister was accompanied by Vice Chairperson JDA, Srita Chouhan, Commissioner, JMC, K.L.Khujaria, Director Land Management, Babu Ram, OSD to Minister, R.K. Bhat and other senior officers of JDA and JMC.
