Rs 5 lakh looted at gun point

JAMMU, Apr 26: In a day-light robbery, three medical representatives (MRs) of a pharmaceutical company were allegedly robbed of about Rs 5 lakh cash at gunpoint by three to four miscreants at Chowki Choura on Jammu-Poonch highway this  evening.
The victims were identified  as Rakesh Sharma, Tarun Sharma and Rajesh Sharma of Cipla company, SP Rural, Shivdeep Singh said. He added that the incident took place at around 5:30 PM when all the three victims in an Innova car bearing registration number JK02BQ-4071 were on their way to Jammu from Rajouri, where they had gone for collection.
Quoting a victim, the officer told that when they reached near Chowki Choura, a speeding Maruti car bearing registration number JK11-3563 overtook their vehicle and blocked their path with their car. He said that there were about four persons in the Maruti car and two of them walked towards them and on gun point snatched their two bags full of cash which was about Rs 5 lakh.
He said before fleeing, the accused also took away the key of victims’ car so that they could not give them a chase. “In this connection, an FIR was registered under relevant sections at police station Akhnoor and efforts were on to trace the unidentified robbers”, the officer said.
