JAMMU, Feb 12: Residents of Roop Nagar JDA Housing Colony held protest at Green Belt Park against the Jammu Development Authority for its failure in providing basic amenities of life.
There has been so far no Shopping Complex, Hospital, School, Post Office, Recreation Hall, Library, Bank, Play Ground etc in their colony, despite projection about the same with the concerned quarters, for over a year now, said the residents.
The protesting people alleged that there was acute scarcity in allthe sectors of Roop Nagar as work on laying of pipelines is still pending due to financial constraints although the approval to the effect stands done under Amrit Scheme.
The people demanded making operational community hall in Sector 3, which stands closed for about two years, which was a great loss to JDA revenue besides inconvenience to the residents.
The residents have objected to the functioning of Club in the residential area and towards the road leading to Aap Shambhoo Temple. They said the Club Building be used for Sub-Divisional Office, presently functioning at JDA Complex Janipur, which was announced previously by the Government at Roop Nagar Headquarters. The residents have requested the Government that development activities be carried out first on top priority basis and afterwards Club Building constructed out of residential area.
