Romeo Force celebrates ‘Operationalisation Day’

JAMMU, Mar 1: Romeo Force celebrated its 18th ‘Operationalisation Day’, today.
For the last 17 years, Romeo Force has been one of the prime engines of Northern Command for attrition against terrorism and stability in the hinterland of twin districts of Poonch and Rajouri.
The Force was raised on September 20, 1999 at Dhanidhar Fort, Rajouri, and was operationalised on March 1, 2000. Since that day, March 1 symbolises the ‘Operationlisation Day’ of the Force.
On this occasion, all ranks of the Force paid homage to the martyrs in a solemn ceremony conducted at the War Memorial at Romeo Force Headquarters. Major General Yogendra Dimri, General Officer Commanding, Romeo Force laid a wreath at the memorial during the ceremony.
The event ended with All Ranks of the Force taking an unflinching resolve to maintain the high standards of dedication and sacrifice that has been set by their predecessors.
The short but glorious history of the Force has been a saga of unparalleled bravery, courage, scarifies and unconditional devotion to duty by all ranks of the Force who have had the honour of serving in it.
The Force has achieved tremendous success in its endeavor to achieve peace and tranquility in the twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch. The Force has neutralised 1551 terrorists and recovered a huge quantity of arms, ammunition and warlike stores.
The Nation has recognised this by conferring 971 awards for Gallantry and Distinguished service. These achievements have, however, come at a great cost with 27 officers, 16 Junior Commissioned officers and 403 other ranks laying down their lives in service of the Nation.
Over the past year, the Force has continued its relentless counter insurgency operation by preventing infiltration across the fence on the Line of Control and ensuring peace in the area.
