Rich tributes paid to martyrs of Jallianwala Bagh

JAMMU, Apr 13: Desh Bhagat Yadgaar Committee paid rich tributes to the martyrs of Jallianwala Bagh on ‘Massacre Day Jallianwala Bagh’ in a programme organized at Gurudwara Guru Nanak Dev Jee Complex Chand Nagar,here today.
The programme was held under the leadership of Comrade Sukhdev Singh, Convener of the Committee, which was attended by senior trade union leaders, prominent citizens, who shared their views. Seniors members Bar Council and social organizations also participated in the programme.

Dr Jagmohan Singh, nephew of Shaheed Bhagat Singh was the chief guest.
On the occasion, the Award of Honour was given to the chief guest by the Committee members namely Sukhbdev Singh, JA Kazmi and Balkar Singh, while Siropa and Sword was also given by to the chief guest by Avtar Singh Khalsa, Secretary District Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee Jammu, Narinder Singh, S. Sukhbir Singh and Kulvinder Singh.
While speaking on the occasion, Comrade Sukhdev Singh said we salute to martyrs on their martyrdom day and salute to their indomitable valour and patriotism that inspires generations.
The speakers said that the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, also known as the Amritsar massacre, took place on April 13, 1919 when troops of the British Indian Army under the command of Colonel Reginald Dyer fired rifles into a crowd of Baishakhi pilgrims, who had gathered in Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar in Punjab.
Those who spoke on the occasion included JA Kazmi, Comrade Balkar Singh, Comrade Rathinder Koul, Sunil Dimple, Comrade Ravi Singh, Comrade Mohan Singh, GL Chanda, Brid. Rajinder Singh, Dr Taran Singh, Kulvinder Singh, President Gurudwara Guru Nanak Dev Ji Chand Nagar, Comrade Pritam Singh, Shiv Rattan Singh Retd. AC and Bhai Kulwant Singh from Sikh Missionary College.
